Meet The Team: Lillian Williams, Creative Director

What’s your role at MiM, and what does a typical day look like for you?
I am the Creative Director / Senior Graphic Designer here at MiM. I joined the team around two years ago after leaving Zoggs (Part of HEAD Sports) following the arrival of our daughter.
A typical day involves lots of emails, Teams meetings with colleagues, research, conceptualising, refining, and presenting to clients. No two days are the same, and there are always a lot of jobs to be getting on with.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Watching how our clients' brands can be transformed quickly and effectively by our team. It is amazing to see a well-designed and executed marketing plan fall into place and really boost not only the look and feel, but the engagement of a brand.
What has been your most memorable project at MiM so far?
Probably the work behind Bracknell Forest Skills Hub. We started from scratch with a PowerPoint presentation of what the brand needed to be. From this we created the logo, the website, print collateral, street signage and roundabout ads. We’ve created their marketing plan, helped run ads and socials, and have gathered lots of content at subsequent events.
It has been so good to see this project from beginning to where it is now, and to witness the impact this is having on the local community and businesses alike.
What’s your favourite tool, app, or resource that makes your job easier?
Adobe Illustrator I could never live without! There is always something that needs creating or re-creating.
What’s the first marketing campaign (outside of MiM) that really made an impression on you?
Not necessarily a marketing campaign, but an ad campaign that will forever be imprinted in my brain is the Cadbury’s Gorilla drumming to Phil Collins. The randomness of the set-up, the attention to detail of his nostrils flaring before the drums begin, the association with a classic chocolate - is a teenage memory locked in for life.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
Spending time with my husband and young daughter, making memories whilst she is young and inquisitive. This is really important to me!
What’s the last book, podcast, film, or TV show that inspired you?
‘Hack Your Health: The Secrets of Your Gut’ was probably the last programme I watched that inspired me. As I’m getting older and not moving my body as much as I used to I am finding physical health really does affect your overall wellbeing. Sometimes you really do have to take stock of what you are doing (or not doing) to your body to help improve your health, and ultimately your lifestyle. This, I feel, is more important today as so many of us don’t look after ourselves like we know we should!
What’s the best piece of professional or personal advice you’ve ever received?
I often struggle with allowing anything to go out of the door if it is less than perfect. When I came across the concept ‘done is better than perfect’, I could not get to grips with this at all. However, through ‘letting go’ and sharing ideas/concepts in draft form with our clients this really has helped shape the ideas and has more than often helped to produce the best results anyway.
